The Cotton Malone page covers Steve Berry’s long-running international thriller series. Cotton Malone is a retired U.S. Justice Department operative who owns a rare bookshop in Copenhagen but keeps getting pulled into conspiracies that connect historical mysteries to present-day threats. The series has run to 25 books since The Templar Legacy in 2006.
Berry builds each novel around a real historical mystery or institution — the Knights Templar, the Library of Alexandria, the Lincoln assassination, the Malta Exchange — and uses Malone’s intelligence background and book knowledge to connect past and present. The series also includes the Cassiopeia Vitt Adventure spinoff, which follows one of Malone’s allies through her own cases.
