The Wings of Fire Graphic Novels began in 2018 with an adaptation of The Dragonet Prophecy, illustrated by Mike Holmes. The series adapts the main Wings of Fire novels into full-color graphic novel format, giving visual form to the dragon tribes, landscapes, and battles that readers had previously only imagined. Each graphic novel runs around 200 pages and translates one novel from the prose series.
Holmes illustrated the first seven adaptations, establishing the look of the Pyrrhian dragon tribes with distinct body shapes, color schemes, and expressions that became widely adopted by the fan community. Barry Deutsch took over illustration duties starting with the Darkstalker adaptation in 2025. The graphic novel line has been a major commercial success, frequently appearing on bestseller lists alongside the prose originals, and has brought new readers into the Wings of Fire world who prefer visual storytelling.
