The Wildflowers series, published in 1999, follows the same format as the Orphans and Shooting Stars books. Misty, Star, Jade, and Cat each tell her story during group therapy sessions, and Into the Garden brings all four together afterward.
Each girl comes from a different background but shares the common thread of family dysfunction. The therapy-session framing device gives the storytelling a confessional quality that sets it apart from the third-person narration of the longer V.C. Andrews series.
