The W.F. & Co. series puts Wells Fargo operations at the center of three Western adventures. In the Old West, Wells Fargo ran stagecoach lines across vast stretches of dangerous territory, and the company employed agents and detectives to deal with the road agents, bandits, and renegades who targeted their coaches. Robert Peecher uses that setup to build three fast, action-driven stories set along the routes between Mesilla, Albuquerque, and the mining towns of the Southwest.
Coughlin’s Deal opens the series when road agents stop a Wells Fargo stagecoach and kidnap a prominent attorney, prompting chief detective James Hume to send one of his best men after them. The Santa Rita Payroll raises the stakes with Apache renegades who burn a relay station and steal a mine payroll. The Stagecoach to Mesilla puts agent Calvin Hughes on a coach where a robbery plot turns to murder. Each book is a standalone adventure, but together they paint a picture of the dangerous work that kept the stagecoach lines running.
