The Night Lords trilogy is one of Aaron Dembski-Bowden’s most acclaimed works, following First Claw, a warband of Chaos Space Marines from the VIII Legion. Soul Hunter (2010) introduces Talos and his brothers as they try to survive in a universe that has left them behind. Blood Reaver and Void Stalker continue the story through increasingly desperate circumstances.
What sets this trilogy apart from many Warhammer 40,000 novels is its focus on the villains as protagonists. The Night Lords are not heroes by any measure, but Dembski-Bowden makes their struggles compelling. The trilogy is regularly recommended as a starting point for readers new to the Black Library.
