The War with No Name is a science fiction series by Robert Repino. The premise: a colony of intelligent ants, after thousands of years of preparation, uses biological technology to transform Earth’s surface animals into upright, sentient beings. These newly awakened animals rise up against their former human masters. At the center of the story is Mort(e), a former housecat turned soldier, who fights in the war while searching for Sheba, a dog he knew before the transformation.
Mort(e) was published in 2014, followed by the novella Culdesac (2016), the novel D’Arc (2017), and Malefactor (2021). The series has been praised for its unusual premise and emotional weight.
