War of the Fae is Elle Casey’s longest series and one of her most popular. It begins with The Changelings, where a seemingly ordinary teenager named Jayne Sparks gets pulled into the Green Forest and discovers that fae creatures are very real. Over the course of ten books, Jayne goes from confused outsider to key player in a conflict between the fae world and the human one.
The first seven books came out in quick succession in 2012 and established the core story. Jayne trains with other changelings, picks up allies and enemies, and gradually learns what she is capable of. The tone balances humor with genuine danger, and Casey gives Jayne a sarcastic voice that keeps things entertaining even when the plot gets dark. After a pause, Casey returned to the world with Time Slipping in 2015, followed by Dragon Riders and Winged Warriors in 2018.
The later books expand the scope of the world and introduce new magical creatures and threats. Fans of the original run will find familiar characters alongside new ones, and the stakes are higher than ever. The full ten-book run gives readers a substantial urban fantasy series with a consistent main character and a world that grows more detailed with each installment.
