Norah Wilson’s Vampire Romance duology takes the genre’s familiar elements (immortal vampires, dangerous attraction, a contemporary setting where the supernatural is hidden in plain sight) and applies them with the same character-focused approach that runs through all her work. Both books came out in 2011, making it easy to read them back to back.
Nightfall introduces the world and the central characters, while The Merzetti Effect deepens the mythology and pushes the romance toward its conclusion. The Merzetti Effect in particular takes its title from a concept Wilson develops within the books rather than borrowed lore, giving the duology its own internal logic.
At two books, the series is one of Wilson’s shorter efforts, but it covers the ground it needs to. Fans of vampire romance who want a complete story without committing to a longer series will find this duology a satisfying read from a Canadian author who knows how to balance the supernatural with genuine emotional stakes.
