The Uni the Unicorn series by Amy Krouse Rosenthal began in 2014 with a simple, clever premise: Uni is a little unicorn who believes that little girls are real, even though all the other unicorns think that’s silly. The first book, illustrated by Brigette Barrager, became a bestseller and launched what would become Rosenthal’s biggest franchise.
After Rosenthal’s death in 2017, the series continued with Barrager’s illustrations and contributions from other writers. The books expanded from picture books into early readers and activity-style formats. Later titles follow Uni through school, holidays, baking, sports, and seasonal adventures. The core appeal stays the same throughout: bright, glittery illustrations and stories about a unicorn who is cheerful, kind, and convinced that magic is real. With nineteen books published through 2024, the series covers everything from sleepovers to recitals, giving young Uni fans plenty to read.
