Trail Blazers is Jenna Kernan’s earliest romance series. Winter Woman (2003), Turner’s Woman (2005), The Trapper (2005), High Plains Bride (2007), and Outlaw Bride (2008) are historical romances set on the American frontier.
The books take place during the era of fur trappers and westward migration. Turner’s Woman follows a woman traveling with a mountain man, while The Trapper reverses the dynamic with a trapper pulled into domestic life. High Plains Bride and Outlaw Bride shift to later decades as the frontier begins to close. Each book tells a complete romance with new main characters.
Kernan published the series through Harlequin Historical, and these books established her before she moved into paranormal romance with the Trackers series. The frontier settings give the series a grittier feel than typical Regency or contemporary romances, with survival and harsh conditions playing a real part in the stories.
