The Tom Wilde series follows a Cambridge history professor who finds himself repeatedly drawn into the world of espionage as Europe descends into war. Tom Wilde’s academic life at Cambridge puts him close to the real-life spy rings and political tensions of the 1930s, and British intelligence finds his combination of intellect and outsider perspective too useful to leave alone.
Beginning with Corpus in 2017, the eight-book series moves from the pre-war years through the conflict itself. Rory Clements won his second CWA Ellis Peters Historical Dagger for Nucleus, the second book in the series. The later novels take Wilde from Cambridge to Berlin, Moscow, and beyond as the war reshapes Europe.
