The Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon novels follow an elite U.S. Army Special Forces unit known as the Ghosts, who operate in the most dangerous theaters around the world. The first book, Ghost Recon (2008), establishes the unit and sends them into a volatile situation that tests their training and technology. Combat Ops (2011) and Choke Point (2012) put the Ghosts through additional deployments in different parts of the globe.
Dark Waters (2017) continued the series after a gap, bringing updated threats and geopolitical scenarios. Like the other Tom Clancy tie-in series, these books emphasize tactical realism and military procedure. Benson researched weapons systems, special operations doctrine, and real-world conflict zones to give the novels the grounded feel that readers expect from the Tom Clancy brand. The books function both as companions to the Ubisoft video games and as standalone military thrillers.
