Katie McGarry kicked off the Thunder Road series in 2015 with Nowhere But Here, introducing seventeen-year-old Emily, who discovers that her biological father is a member of the Reign of Terror motorcycle club. The book was pitched as a YA take on the tension between outsider curiosity and insider loyalty, and McGarry researched the setting by spending time with a real motorcycle club.
Walk the Edge (2016) shifted focus to Razor, a club member’s son, and Breanna, a good student who gets pulled into his orbit after a cyberbullying incident. Long Way Home (2017) closed out the trilogy with Violet, whose father’s death while carrying out club business forces her to question everything she was raised to believe. Each book works as a standalone romance, though the three stories share a setting and a cast of recurring side characters.
