Thieves’ World is a shared-world fantasy anthology series created by Robert Lynn Asprin, with Philip Jose Farmer among the many contributing authors. The series is set in the city of Sanctuary, a rough frontier town full of thieves, mages, and mercenaries. Starting in 1979, the anthologies allowed multiple authors to write interconnected stories in the same setting.
The series grew to over twenty volumes, spanning from the original run in the 1980s to revival anthologies in the 2000s. Farmer was one of many well-known fantasy and science fiction authors who contributed, helping to build one of the genre’s earliest and most successful shared-world projects.
