The World of Flashpoint trade paperback series collects the tie-in miniseries that ran alongside Geoff Johns’s main Flashpoint event miniseries in 2011. Each volume gathers stories from that event focused on a specific hero, presenting how the major DC characters exist in the alternate Flashpoint timeline where the Flash’s interference with history has created a darker world. The Batman volume covers Thomas Wayne’s brutal version of the character, the Superman volume explores his very different circumstances, and the Wonder Woman volume covers the Amazonian military campaign that is consuming Europe.
The Flashpoint event was significant because it served as the publishing transition point between DC’s previous continuity and the New 52 relaunch that followed. The alternate timeline stories in these volumes are self-contained within the Flashpoint reality and do not continue into subsequent publishing.
