The Townes Party on the Oregon Trail tells the story of a wagon train heading west in 1846, bound for the farmland near Oregon City. The families in the party are tied together by a shared hope that the West holds something better, but the two-thousand-mile trail tests every one of them. An Incident at South Pass opens with a confrontation halfway along the route, when a rough outfit heading east spots something they want among the emigrants.
To the Green Valleys Yonder picks up at Bridger’s Fort, where the party is already running late in the season and their new guide turns out to be hiding something dangerous. Tragedy on the Barlow Road brings the journey to its end as the party, now without guides and low on supplies, attempts a new road around Mount Hood with winter closing in. Peecher draws on the real hardships of Oregon Trail emigration, and the result is a series that feels more like survival fiction than a typical shootout Western.
