The Thaw Chronicles is Heidi Catherine’s largest and most ambitious project. Beginning with Burning (2019), the series is set in a world where ecological disaster has reshaped civilization, and follows characters trying to survive and rebuild.
The series expanded through several phases: the original After the Thaw sequence (Rising, Breaking, Falling, Reckoning), the Beyond the Thaw continuation (Extant, Exist, Exile, Expose), and additional entries including Remnants of Thaw, Tournaments of Thaw, and the Oasis trilogy. With over twenty books published between 2019 and 2023, the series offers a deep dive into a single dystopian world.
The scope of the project is unusual for the genre, and Catherine’s willingness to keep expanding the world across multiple sub-series gives dedicated readers a large body of connected fiction to work through.
