The Templar Chronicles by Jeff Gunhus follows Jack Templar, a regular kid whose life changes the day before his fourteenth birthday. He discovers he comes from a long line of monster hunters and that the Creach, an organized society of monsters, has been waiting to come after him. A treaty protects youngsters until they turn 14, and Jack has just run out of time.
The six books, published between 2012 and 2016, follow Jack from his first encounter with monsters through the Monster Hunter Academy and into battles against the lords of vampires, werewolves, and demons. Gunhus wrote the first book to get his reluctant-reader son interested in books, and the series has been compared to Percy Jackson and Harry Potter.
