The Taylor Clan is where Julie Miller’s Kansas City universe began. One Good Man, published in 2000, introduced a family of first responders — cops, firefighters, and the people around them — and the series ran seven books across fifteen years, with Last Man Standing arriving in 2014 as a late addition to the original cast.
The family structure allowed Miller to move from sibling to sibling across the series, each book focusing on a different Taylor while maintaining the shared history. The series established the Kansas City setting and the protective-partnership romance formula that would carry through all of her subsequent Precinct work.
