The Punisher MAX series ran under Marvel’s mature-readers imprint, telling darker, more violent stories than the regular Punisher comics. The fifteen volumes cover story arcs from In the Beginning through the final Punisher Max collection, all set outside the main Marvel superhero universe.
The series is known for its unflinching approach to crime fiction. Written primarily by Garth Ennis in the early volumes, the run deals with organized crime, human trafficking, and vigilante justice without the superhero elements found in other Marvel titles. Victor Gischler contributed to related Punisher projects during this period.
