The Parthian Chronicles is Peter Darman’s longest series, with sixteen books published between 2011 and 2022. The series follows Pacorus, a Parthian prince and warrior, through the wars between the Parthian Empire and Rome during the first century BC.
The Parthian (2011) begins Pacorus’s story, and subsequent books trace his rise and the empire’s conflicts. Carrhae (2013) covers the famous battle where the Parthians destroyed a Roman army, while later entries like Amazon (2018), Wraiths (2019), and Conqueror (2022) follow the empire’s continued struggles. The series gives readers an ancient world seen from the Parthian side rather than the Roman perspective that dominates most historical fiction of the period.
