The Misadventures of Tallulah Casey is a three-book series by Louise Rennison, written after the completion of the Georgia Nicolson books. The series follows Tallulah, a Yorkshire teenager who wins a scholarship to Dother Hall, a performing arts school in the English countryside. Like the Georgia Nicolson books, it is written in diary form with the same comic voice and dense accumulation of absurd situations.
Withering Tights (2010) is the first book, taking its title from the Bronte parody premise – Tallulah’s home is in bleak Yorkshire, and Dother Hall is framed as a kind of gothic comedy setting. A Midsummer Tights Dream (2012) and The Taming of the Tights (2013) complete the trilogy, each drawing on a Shakespeare play for its title.
The three books are best read in order as they form a continuous story. Readers who loved the Georgia Nicolson books will recognize Rennison’s comic approach immediately, while new readers can treat Tallulah Casey as a standalone introduction to her writing.
