The MacGregors is one of Nora Roberts’ longest-running family series, following the boisterous Scottish-American MacGregor clan across twelve books and nearly four decades. The series is held together by patriarch Daniel MacGregor, a cigar-smoking matchmaker who meddles in his descendants’ love lives with equal parts charm and stubbornness. Each book focuses on a different family member finding romance, while Daniel pulls strings in the background.
The series grew gradually, starting with four books in 1985 and adding new installments as the family expanded through marriages and children. Roberts returned to the MacGregors as recently as 2023 with MacGregor Ever After. Reading in publication order is recommended, since characters and relationships carry forward throughout.
