The Last King of Osten Ard brings readers back to the fantasy world Tad Williams created in the late 1980s with Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn. Set decades after the events of that original trilogy, this series follows an older Simon and Miriamele as they rule a kingdom facing new threats. The Heart of What Was Lost, a short bridging novel, connects the two series by telling the story of what happened immediately after the original trilogy ended.
The main sequence begins with The Witchwood Crown and runs through four large volumes, ending with The Navigator’s Children in 2024. Brothers of the Wind is a standalone prequel set in the distant past. Williams spent years writing this series, and fans who had waited decades for a return to Osten Ard found a story that expanded the world while honoring what came before.
