The Kitchen Witch is Morgana Best’s longest-running series, spanning 22 books from 2015 to 2025. It follows Amelia Spelled, a disaster-prone young woman who gets dumped, fired, and evicted all in the same week. A mysterious letter draws her to a remote Australian town, where she learns that her family has a long history of witchcraft and that she has powers of her own. The house she inherits has a personality of its own, and the town is full of quirky characters who keep things unpredictable.
Almost every title involves a spell pun: Miss Spelled, Dizzy Spells, ExSpelled, Spellcheck, and so on. The series also has a tradition of annual Halloween specials, starting with The Halloween Spell in 2016 and continuing each year through The Halloween Ghost Spell in 2025. Amelia grows into her abilities over the course of the series, dealing with romance, family secrets, and an impressive number of dead bodies along the way.
