The Killers Next Generation is a spinoff of Brynne Asher’s Killers series, shifting the focus to the children of the original cast. The first book, The Chemistry of Levi (published as Levi), came out in 2022 and follows Levi Hollingsworth, the son of Asa from the Killers book Gifts. Levi is the most popular guy at his school, stoic and mysterious, and the story kicks off when he becomes the chemistry tutor for Carissa Collins, the new girl in town.
The new adult romance angle gives the series a different feel from the original Killers books. The characters are younger, and the stakes involve school drama, dirty politics, sex scandals, and cold cases rather than the more established-adult conflicts of the parent series. The timeline of Levi actually overlaps with events in Gifts, which means readers who come in without reading The Killers will miss connections that add depth to the story.
The Playbook of Emma (2025) continues the spinoff with another next-generation couple. Asher has shown she can write for a slightly younger readership while keeping the suspense and romantic tension that her fanbase expects. Fans of The Killers who want to see what happened to those characters’ kids will find this series a natural extension of that world.
