The Kiesha’ra series by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is a five-book YA fantasy sequence set in a world of shapeshifters. The story begins with Hawksong (2003), where the avian princess Danica Shardae and serpiente prince Zane Cobriana agree to an arranged marriage to end a centuries-old war between their peoples. Each following book shifts to a new narrator while continuing the story of this fragile peace.
Snakecharm, Falcondance, Wolfcry, and Wyvernhail expand the world by introducing other shapeshifter races and exploring the political tensions that threaten the avian-serpiente alliance. The books are best read in publication order since each one picks up where the last left off. The series also connects to Atwater-Rhodes’ later Maeve’ra Trilogy, which returns to the same world.
