The Human Revolt is Phil Tucker’s earliest series, begun in 2012 before he turned to the epic fantasy and LitRPG work he later became known for. Set in a world where vampires have taken over human civilization, the series follows the resistance as they fight back against their bloodsucking overlords. Vampire Miami kicks things off in South Florida, and Vampire LA moves the action to the West Coast.
Vampire Redemption and Vampire Revolution continue the story as the human resistance grows from scattered cells into an organized movement. Tucker keeps the tone action-heavy, treating the vampire premise as a framework for fight scenes and guerrilla warfare rather than the romantic or gothic approach common in vampire fiction.
The series represents Tucker’s early career before he found his footing with secondary-world fantasy. It is rougher around the edges than his later work, but it shows his instinct for fast pacing and frequent action that would carry through his entire catalog. Readers who discover Tucker through his later books might find it interesting to see where he started.
