Jennifer Robson’s Great War series follows different women navigating love and independence during and after World War I. The first book, Somewhere in France, tells the story of Lady Elizabeth Neville-Ashford, an aristocrat who defies her family to become an ambulance driver in France. After the War is Over picks up with another character from the first book, and Moonlight over Paris moves to 1920s Paris as Lady Helena Montagu-Douglas-Parr pursues her dream of becoming an artist.
Each novel works as a standalone story with its own romance and resolution, but recurring characters and references tie them together. Robson’s background in British history shows in the period detail, from the trenches of the Western Front to the cafes of postwar Paris.
