The Friarsgate Inheritance by Bertrice Small combines Tudor-era historical romance with Small’s contemporary erotic Channel books into one extended series. The first four books (Rosamund, Until You, Philippa, and The Last Heiress) follow the heiresses of the Friarsgate estate in northern England during the reigns of Henry VII and Henry VIII. These same four books also appear in Skye’s Legacy, connecting the Friarsgate women to Skye O’Malley’s larger family tree.
Beginning with Private Pleasures, the series shifts to a contemporary setting where modern women discover a mysterious television channel that allows them to live out their romantic fantasies. These five books (Private Pleasures through Passionate Pleasures) are shared with the standalone Channel series. The connection between the historical and contemporary halves comes through family lineage, as the modern heroines are descendants of the Friarsgate women.
This combined reading order works best for readers who want to trace the family line from the Tudor period to the present day. Those who prefer to keep the historical and contemporary stories separate can read the Friarsgate historical novels on their own or jump straight to the Channel series.
