The Fey is Kristine Kathryn Rusch’s major epic fantasy series, beginning with The Sacrifice in 1995. The series follows the Fey, a conquering race of warrior-magicians, as they invade the island nation of Blue Isle. The defenders of Blue Isle possess a type of magic the Fey have never encountered, and the resulting conflict drives a multi-generational story of war, politics, and uneasy alliances.
The original sequence runs five books, followed by the Black Throne duology, which continues the story. More recently, Rusch has returned to this world with additional stories set in the same setting. The series is darker and more politically complex than much of Rusch’s other work, with morally ambiguous characters on both sides of the conflict.
