The Ending is the series that launched Lindsey Sparks’ writing career. Co-written with Lindsey Pogue and published starting in 2013, the first book, After The Ending, drops readers into the aftermath of a pandemic that has killed most of humanity. The twist is that many survivors have gained telepathic and psychic abilities, which complicates every attempt at rebuilding civilization.
The series ran for six books through 2018, following its core group of characters as they navigate a hostile world filled with dangerous factions, unstable powers, and the basic challenges of survival. Romance runs through the story alongside the action, and the dual-perspective structure (with chapters alternating between two female leads) gives the series a broader emotional range than a single-narrator approach would allow. The Ending also spawned a prequel novella and a sequel series, The Ending Legacy, making it the foundation for Sparks’ largest connected fictional world.
