Chris d’Lacey’s Dragons of Wayward Crescent is a series for younger readers set in the Last Dragon Chronicles world. Gauge (2008), Gruffen (2009), Glade (2009), and Grabber (2010) each feature a different dragon character.
Each book centers on a single dragon and its particular personality and abilities. Gauge is a measuring dragon, Gruffen is a guard dragon, and so on. The short, accessible format makes these books a good entry point for children who might later move on to the full Last Dragon Chronicles series.
The four novels were published over just two years, making them a quick read for young fans. Readers familiar with the main series will recognize the setting and rules of the dragon world, while newcomers can enjoy the stories on their own terms without needing any background.
