Dana Schwartz published the Anatomy Duology beginning with Anatomy in 2022, followed by Immortality in 2023. The series is set in Edinburgh during the early nineteenth century and follows Hazel Sinnett, a young woman determined to study medicine in a time when that path was closed to women, and Jack Currer, a resurrection man who procures bodies for the city’s anatomy lectures.
The first book balances its romance with a genuine interest in the history of surgery and body snatching, grounding its love story in period detail. Immortality picks up where Anatomy left off and pushes further into questions about what science can and cannot conquer. Schwartz developed much of her interest in this era through her Noble Blood podcast, and that research shows in the historical texture of both novels.
