The Aermian Feuds is Frost Kay’s first and longest-running series. It began with Rebel’s Blade in 2017 and grew to nine books by 2021. The series is set in a world of warring kingdoms where political alliances shift constantly and rebellion simmers beneath the surface.
The books follow multiple characters caught up in the conflicts between Aermia’s rival factions. Romance develops alongside the political scheming, and Kay builds the tension slowly across the series. Each book’s title hints at its focus, from Crown’s Shield and King’s Warrior to Spy’s Mask and Court’s Fool, with different characters stepping into the spotlight as the larger story unfolds.
The Aermian Feuds is where Kay developed many of the themes she would carry into her later work: strong female characters, morally gray love interests, and fantasy worlds where loyalty is tested at every turn. Readers who enjoy the series can also pick up the Kingdom of Rebels and Thorns companion volumes, which collect parts of the story into omnibus format.
