Terence Faherty’s short story collections gather his mystery fiction into two distinct volumes. The Confessions of Owen Keane (2005) collects stories featuring his signature character, the failed seminarian and amateur detective Owen Keane. These stories complement the eight-novel series and explore corners of Keane’s world that the novels don’t reach.
Tales of the Star Republic (2016) takes a different approach. Its thirteen stories follow a reporter for a Midwestern newspaper, the Star Republic, who is assigned to investigate strange phenomena: UFO sightings, precognition, poltergeists, and other unexplained events. The collection earned praise for blending mystery conventions with the uncanny.
