Terence Faherty has been a regular contributor to Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine for decades, and his short fiction has earned multiple award nominations. These standalone stories and novellas showcase his range within the mystery genre, from traditional whodunits to tales with philosophical and spiritual undertones.
Among the most acclaimed is “The Widow of Slane” (2004), which won the Macavity Award for Best Short Story and was also nominated for the Edgar and Anthony awards. “Infinite Uticas” and “The Cardboard Box” both received Macavity nominations as well. Several of these stories feature Owen Keane or other recurring characters from Faherty’s novels, while others stand entirely on their own.
