Temporal Foam began in 2015 with the title novel and was followed quickly by two more books in the same year and the year after. The series uses time travel as its central conceit, with the later titles indicating where or when the characters end up: The Argonauts of Phoenix nods toward the mythological world of Jason’s crew, while The Peaceful Pillage of Pompeii plants the characters in ancient Rome.
Charles Williamson published the three books in relatively quick succession, and the series sits alongside his other 2015 output in fantasy and mystery. It’s a shorter series than the Healers of Glastamear or Mike Damson sequences, and the playful tone suggested by a title like The Peaceful Pillage of Pompeii contrasts with the more serious register of the fantasy series.
