The Templar Trilogy is a historical fiction series by Jack Whyte that chronicles the Knights Templar from their origins in the Holy Land through their destruction in Europe. Like his Camulod Chronicles, Whyte takes a realistic approach, focusing on the human stories behind the historical events.
The trilogy begins with Knights of the Black and White, which follows a young knight who joins the order and discovers that the Templars guard secrets far older than the Crusades. Standard of Honor continues with the Third Crusade and the political conflicts between Templars and other Crusader factions. Order in Chaos concludes the saga with the Templars’ flight from persecution under King Philip IV of France.
Whyte researched the Templar period extensively, and the books mix real historical figures and events with fictional characters. The trilogy can be read independently from his other works.
