Before Fly Guy made him famous, Tedd Arnold built his career on standalone picture books. His debut, No Jumping on the Bed! (1987), follows a boy named Walter who ignores his father’s warning and crashes through floor after floor of his apartment building. It was named one of Parents Magazine’s 50 All-Time Best Children’s Books.
Other favorites include Green Wilma (1993), about a girl who wakes up as a frog, and The Signmaker’s Assistant (1992), about an apprentice who causes chaos with his signs. Arnold’s picture books share the same exaggerated humor and lively illustrations that would later define his Fly Guy series. The collection spans nearly three decades of work, from 1987 to 2015.
