Team Hero launched in 2017 with Battle for the Shadow Sword and quickly expanded into a full series of sixteen books by 2020. Adam Blade’s new series swapped the single-hero format of Beast Quest and Sea Quest for a team of young protagonists with superpowers, bringing a group dynamic to the familiar fast-paced adventure structure.
The series draws on superhero traditions alongside the fantasy and action elements that define Blade’s other children’s series. Titles like Attack of the Bat Army, Rise of the Shadow Snakes, and Revenge of the Dragon suggest the broad range of threats the team faces, mixing animal-based villains with undead warriors and mythological creatures.
Fourteen of the sixteen books arrived in 2020, with only the debut and one other appearing earlier. That publication burst gave young readers a large back catalogue to work through quickly. Team Hero works well for children who have already read Beast Quest or Sea Quest and want something with a slightly different structure, or for those drawn specifically to superhero-style stories with a fantasy flavour.
