The Tales from Kansas series by Andrew Grey has some fun with its premise. All three books were published in 2014 and use Wizard of Oz-inspired titles: Dumped in Oz, Stuck in Oz, and Trapped in Oz. The Oz references are lighthearted, framing stories about men who find themselves in small-town Kansas and discover that home might not be where they expected.
Grey plays with the fish-out-of-water trope to good effect here. Each book follows a different man adjusting to life in a new place and falling for someone who makes the unfamiliar feel like home. The series has a lighter tone than some of Grey’s suspense-tinged work, making it a good entry point for readers new to his catalog.
