Family Storms (2011) opens with a homeless girl living on the streets with her mother. After a terrible accident, she is taken in by a wealthy woman and given a life she never imagined. But her new home comes with its own dangers, and Cloudburst picks up the story as those threats become harder to ignore.
This two-book series is a quick read with a premise that sets it apart from the usual V.C. Andrews boarding-school or family-estate stories. The contrast between street life and mansion life gives the books some of their energy.
