Steven Rowley’s standalone novels each find a different way to mix comedy with real emotional weight. Lily and the Octopus (2016) is about a man confronting his dog’s terminal illness. The Editor (2019) imagines a young writer whose editor turns out to be Jackie Onassis, and the book becomes a story about mothers and sons. The Celebrants (2023) was a Today Show Read with Jenna book club pick.
Take Me with You (2026) is his most recent novel. Across all four books, Rowley writes about loss, family, and the humor people use to get through the hard parts.
