Star Wars: The New Jedi Order is a massive shared-universe publishing project that ran from 1999 to 2003, telling a single continuous story across novels by more than a dozen authors. The series follows the heroes of the Star Wars galaxy as they face the Yuuzhan Vong, an extragalactic species that uses biotechnology instead of machines and is immune to the Force. It was a darker and more ambitious direction for Star Wars fiction than what had come before.
Walter Jon Williams contributed three of the series’ most well-regarded entries. His Enemy Lines duology (Rebel Dream and Rebel Stand, both 2002) follows Wedge Antilles as he wages a guerrilla campaign on a conquered world. Destiny’s Way (2002) is a turning-point novel where the New Republic begins its counteroffensive. Other authors in the series include R.A. Salvatore, Michael A.
