The Odyssey trilogy is the Reeves-Stevens’ most well-known Star Trek work, written in collaboration with William Shatner. Starting with The Ashes of Eden in 1995, the trilogy gave Captain Kirk a continued story after the events of the films, beginning with a mission that tests his resolve and escalating into resurrection and galactic conflict.
These three novels established a template for the Shatner/Reeves-Stevens collaboration that would continue through multiple additional trilogies. The books balance fan-service moments with genuine storytelling ambition, treating Kirk as a fully developed character rather than simply a nostalgic figure.
