The Star Shards Chronicles follows six teenagers who carry fragments of a dying star within them, granting each terrifying and destructive powers. Scorpion Shards (1995) introduces the group and their struggle to understand what they are, Thief of Souls (1999) pits them against a new threat, and Shattered Sky (2002) concludes the cosmic story.
The trilogy was one of Shusterman’s earlier ambitious works, combining science fiction scope with the personal drama of teenagers trying to control abilities that could destroy them and everyone around them.
