The Spycatcher series runs nine books from 2011 to 2017, following Will Cochrane as he takes on missions that span the globe. Spycatcher, the first book (also published as Spartan), introduces Cochrane as a highly skilled joint operative working for both the CIA and MI6. Subsequent entries like Sentinel, Slingshot, and Dark Spies send him after increasingly dangerous targets.
Later books like The Spy House and A Soldier’s Revenge add personal stakes to the professional ones, as Cochrane’s enemies learn more about him and begin targeting him directly. Act of Betrayal, the final book, brings the series to a conclusion. The books have a fast pace and technical detail about intelligence tradecraft that appeals to fans of John le Carre’s more action-oriented side and Daniel Silva’s Gabriel Allon series.
