The Space Wolf series by William King follows Ragnar Blackmane from his origins as a young warrior on the icy world of Fenris through his transformation into a Space Marine of the Space Wolves chapter. The first novel, Space Wolf, published in 1999, covers his recruitment and training, while later books see him fighting across the galaxy against orks, Chaos forces, and other threats.
King wrote the first four books in the series before other authors took over. His entries established the Viking-inspired culture of the Space Wolves and gave Ragnar a distinct personality among Warhammer 40,000 protagonists. The series is popular with 40K readers for its action-heavy storytelling and its detailed portrayal of Space Marine chapter culture, rituals, and internal politics.
