Small Town Scandals opens with Brody’s Redemption, which has one of the series’ most emotionally charged premises: Joe Brody spent ten years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, and now he’s back in the town that turned on him. The romance develops between him and Ashley, a newcomer who doesn’t carry the town’s preconceptions — which is precisely why she’s able to see him clearly.
The second book, Falling for Her Boss, shifts to a lighter register. Dr. Bryan Booker is a small-town physician who has been fending off unwanted attention from patients and colleagues for years, and his new office assistant turns out to be the one person he wasn’t bracing for. The series works well for readers who like their small-town romance with a bit more edge than the average sweet contemporary.
